The Department of Virus Research and Control, or DOVRAC, is a U.S. government agency studying the HNZ virus that causes zombieism. DOVRAC and The Dead Linger share the same logo.

Prior to the massive outbreak, DOVRAC was tracking an unknown contamination codenamed "HNZ". DOVRAC tracked the virus in South Africa, England and the United States. The new virus was confirmed by DOVRAC in case 110. The case in Marsing, Idaho resulting in 17 DOVRAC personnel and 250 civilians being quarantined.[1] DOVRAC deployed two Siren vehicles to the incident.[2] The medical variant of the Siren was commissioned in late 2014.[3]
