We have begun migration of most wikis to our new host, Amazon Web Services. All but the top 100 wikis are in read-only mode until the migration is complete. Estimated completion: End of Week.
The world of The Dead Linger is created using Procedural Generation, so every map is created differently. However, in your exploration of the world, you will notice several common themes, such as Areas and Buildings.
Areas[edit | edit source]
Zones are portions of the map created by the world generator. An area defines what objects and buildings will be generated, the zombie population density, and more. After the Build 16 update the zones will be groups by regions, allowing the world generator to group similar zones together to create a realistic world. The game is set in a generic United States, and as such most areas are drawn from American geography and culture.
Mechanics[edit | edit source]
Zones vary in shape based on voronoi regions. Each zone is about 700 x 700 meters in size. Every zone has a randomly generated name. Currently the name is displayed above the compass on the top right of the screen.

Buildings[edit | edit source]
As of Alpha Build 009 and the introduction of the log cabin, buildings are found in all areas. Buildings are areas of former human habitation that the player is required to loot and hide in to survive the zombie apocalypse. Buildings contain various supplies and objects that the player needs such as guns, ammunition, clothing and food.
As of Alpha Build 009 the most common building is the Suburban House.
