Zones or Areas are regions of the map created by the world generator. An area defines what objects and buildings will be generated, the zombie population density, and more. When a player enters a new world, the world is randomly generated using seeds. The game is set in a generic United States, and as such most areas are drawn from American geography and culture. However, Sandswept developers do not see this is a restriction, so there may eventually be distinctly non-American areas. Every zone has a randomly generated name. Currently the name is displayed above the compass on the top right of the screen.

Mechanics

Zones vary in shape based on voronoi regions. Each zone is about 512 meters in size. In the future zones will be grouped together by theme. For example city zones will include separate zones for industrial and commercial areas. These types of zones will generate together to create larger themed areas.

Rural

Picture Name Description
Farmspic Farms Farmland with farms and wheat fields.
Forests Forests Forested areas of different types of foliage. Forest zones include oak forests, pines forests and tall pine forests.
Grass plains Grassy fields.
Grassyland Rocklands Grassy fields with boulders.

Urban

Name Description
Town Towns Towns usually contains suburban houses, water towers, offices and stores.
Suburbspic Suburbs The majority of Suburban zones is suburban houses and trees.

Planned

Name Description
Cities City zones were removed in Build 009. City zones were identical to town zones and are planned to return with their own look.
