HNZ is the name the Department of Virus Research and Control assigned to the zombie disease. Referring to it as an "unknown contamination", DOVRAC investigated sightings of alleged carriers of the disease by several civilian and military entities across the world. However, most investigations were inconclusive and found trace or no evidence. Sighting #110 confirmed the disease's presence: 890 civilians in Marsing, Idaho encountered carriers of the disease. 17 DOVRAC personnel and 290 civilians were quarantined and 12 dogs were euthanized.
